We are pleased to announce the launch of Reading Dinos, a new ebook shop designed to work smoothly with FBReader. The store is now live and offers a straightforward, privacy-friendly way to purchase and read ebooks.

What is available today

• Extensive catalogue: Over 1.5 million English-language ebooks are available.
• LCP-protected ePub: All titles are delivered as LCP-protected ePub files, fully compatible with FBReader and other LCP-enabled reading applications.
• Simple reading workflow: After purchasing a title, readers can download the licence file and open it in FBReader to begin reading immediately.
• Secure payments: Card payments, Google Pay, and Apple Pay are supported.
• Clean interface: A fast, distraction-free browsing and purchasing experience.
• Wishlist: Save titles for later.

At present, purchases are available to customers with a UK billing address, while the catalogue remains fully browsable worldwide.

Short-term plans

• Seamless FBReader integration: FBReader will soon allow users to browse the Reading Dinos catalogue, buy books, and download purchased books directly from within the app.
• OPDS access: Reading Dinos will expose the same catalogue and personal library via OPDS, enabling other ebook readers — such as Thorium — to access purchased books directly as well.
• Age-restricted titles: Age verification, as required by the Online Safety Act, will be added shortly, unlocking several currently unavailable categories.

Mid-term plans

• Wider international availability: Support for purchases from more countries.
• Additional formats: Support for PDF and later other formats, alongside ePub.
• Richer book information: Expanded metadata and book samples to allow readers to preview content before buying.
• Improved discovery tools: Enhanced search, recommendations and navigation features.

Reading Dinos is built to complement FBReader and to provide an integrated, reliable reading experience. We look forward to extending these capabilities in the coming months.

We are announcing the launch of our very own ebook store in 2025! This independent store will debut with a catalogue of 1.5 million titles, primarily in English.

FBReader has always been recognised as an independent reading app with no store lock-in, and that principle remains unchanged. You can continue using FBReader as you always have, reading books from your preferred sources. And vice versa, if you choose to purchase ebooks from our store, you can enjoy them in another reading app — no exclusivity required.
