This release focuses on improvements for ePub books:

• Updated parsing engine for better standards compliance.
• Relaxed requirements so more “incorrect” ePub files can now be opened.
• Cosmetic changes in LCP-protected ePub support, making book acquisition and library display smoother.

The release is already available on our site and will roll out gradually in the app stores. The same updates for iOS and Desktop are coming soon.

The October update delivers minor fixes and improvements. The most notable change is an updated algorithm for word-breaking, with better handling of quotation marks in specific cases.

This release also includes a new version of the DjVu plugin, now compatible with newer devices. Compatibility updates for the main app and other plugins have already been introduced in recent versions.

FBReader 3.8.18 for Android and 1.2.4 for iOS are now available. These releases include minor bug fixes and an important update to the DeepL translation API.

DeepL has deprecated the old API, and online translation will stop working in earlier FBReader versions after 1st November 2025. We strongly recommend updating to the latest version or switching the online translation feature to Google Translate.

The new iOS release is fully compatible with iOS 26 and the iPhone 17 series.

This second July update brings improved compatibility with the new e-ink device, Mudita Kompakt. We've also added support for FBReader Book Network authorisation when using microG, the open-source alternative to Google Play Services. Additionally, this release fixes a rare stability issue introduced in version 3.8.16.

The July update introduces a new bookmark restoration algorithm that preserves your bookmarks in the correct locations, even if the book file has been slightly modified.

It also fixes a few minor interface glitches.
